Project Details

Frequencies is a long term project devised by artist Oscar Murillo. The project basically attaches blank canvases to classroom desks. Without any instruction or limitations, the students can create whatever they want to on the blank canvas. By placing canvas on desks and leaving it for a prolonged period of time, the process of sedimentation that occurs not only captures the students’ thoughts and expressions, but also schance interventions that are the product of external factors.

Srijanalaya collaborated with Frequencies to carry out the program in schools in and around Kathmandu. Participating schools included Lalitpur Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, Jana Sewa Boarding School, Jana Uddhar School, Geeta Mata School, Madrasa Lalamiya School, Panga Secondary School, Vidhya Bikash School, Khwophring English School, Namuna Macchindranath School, Mount Hermoun School, Rara Hill School and New Horizon School.
