Sanjeev Maharjan
Sanjeev Maharjan is a visual artist based in Kathmandu. Maharjan was born in a family of farmers in Kathmandu. Maharjan’s works are inspired from his social surrounding, which he represents through drawing, painting, photography, installation and murals. Through his work, he wants people to wake up and notice what they would normally pass by.
Maharjan is a Co-founder of Drawing Room KTM, an artist-run learning space and one of the founders of Srijanalaya, a nonprofit organization which creates safe spaces of learning through the arts.
In 2009, he graduated from Kathmandu University Center for Art and Design and had a solo exhibition “Portraits from the Shadow” in Siddhartha Art Gallery. He was selected for the IN-BETWEEN project, a student exchange program between KUArt and Gerrit Rietveld Acadamy, Amsterdam in 2008.
Since then he has participated in group exhibitions, art projects, workshops and residencies both nationally and internationally. His work has been selected for the Kathmandu International Art Festival (KIAF), Separating Myth From Reality, The Status of Women, 2009 and Earth-Body-Mind, 2012.
