Sugam Deshar is a student of Ethnomusicology doing his Bachelor’s from Kathmandu University’s Department of Music. Since 2015, he has been researching the indigenous Tamang instrument Tungna and collaborated with researchers and bands for his projects. In addition to the tungna, he plays the guitar and sarangi, a Nepali folk fiddle. He is a multi-instrumentalist.
He is one of the members of the band “Maa”. He has also played music in various bands and has been a session player for many solo artists and bands. Beside playing music, he has also worked as a Music teacher in various music schools.
